Instantly Test Every Step of Your Workflows with Live Results in SalesEdge.io
We’re excited to introduce a new, easier way to test your automations in SalesEdge.io! Now you can test individual triggers or actions using real activity from your account, then watch your entire workflow run step by step. This gives you immediate feedback, so you know your automations are set up exactly right before you go live.
What’s New
Test a trigger using real events- When editing a workflow, open the Test tab on any trigger and turn on “Listen for events.” For example, submit a form or fire the event you want to test — it will show up in just seconds.
- Click “Test Trigger.” That real event is now pinned, so every action below uses the same data for testing.
- Previously, you could only test the full workflow on a contact, which didn’t help if your workflow wasn’t contact-based. Now, testing is flexible and works with any kind of event.
Test one action at a time
- Open the Test tab on any action to see its input (using your pinned event data). Click “Test Action.”
- You’ll instantly see the output—such as confirmation messages, or IDs of newly created records—which are also available to the next steps in your workflow.
Run the whole workflow and watch it live
- Click “Test workflow,” pick your trigger and event, then start the test.
- Each step clearly shows if it succeeded, failed, or was skipped. Click on any step to see exactly what data went in and what came out.
View history and retry runs
- The History tab keeps track of all your test runs, so you can filter by all, success, failure, or skipped steps.
- If something needs fixing, just update your workflow and click “Retry” to run the same test again—no need to start over from scratch.
How to Use the New Workflow Tester
- In your SalesEdge.io account, turn on “The New Test Workflow” feature under Labs.
- Go to Automation > Workflows and select the workflow you want to test.
- Click the trigger, open the Test tab, and choose “Test using events.”
- Turn on “Listen for events” and trigger the event once (such as filling out a form).
- Select your event and click “Test Trigger.”
- (Optional) Click on an action, open its Test tab, and click “Test Action.”
- Click “Test workflow,” pick your trigger and event, and start testing.
- Review each result, then save and publish with confidence!
Important: Testing uses your actual workflow steps. If your automation sends messages or creates records, those actions will really happen. Use your own details or a test form entry when checking workflows, especially if you want to avoid contacting real clients during testing.
Why This Matters
- Confidence to publish: Know for sure that your automation is working—every step will show you its result instantly, using real data from your account.
- Faster fixes: If something goes wrong, you'll see exactly where and why, making it easy to try again with one click after making corrections.
Good to Know
- Listening for events lasts 15 minutes. If your event doesn’t arrive, just turn it back on and try again.
- Always test the trigger first, then test actions—the action test will use the event you pinned when testing the trigger.
- Testing is optional. You can still save and publish workflows without running tests.
- If you don’t have a real event handy, you can enroll a contact directly to test with any contact you choose.
For existing SalesEdge.io users: This update is already live in your account.
